Junior Sailing Summary
Starts on Saturday 13 May 2023.
Please be at the Club at 1.30pm to allow time to rig boats and change into sailing gear to be on the water around 2.00pm start. We come off the water around 4.30pm depending on the weather and finish by 5.00pm.
New junior sailors are very welcome, including grandchildren of family members. We do require a basic level of water confidence wearing a buoyancy-aid due to sailing in deep water, please ask for further details if required.
Junior Sailing sessions start the first Saturday in May and continue on Saturday afternoons through end July. We take a break during August, start again in September and continue through to the Chocolate Regatta at the end of September.
Junior Sailing Boats
We have a great fleet of junior sailing boats including Oppi’s, Toppers, 5 x RS Fevas and 3 Laser’s with 4.7, Radial or Full-size rigs. We can also use the club Laser 2000 and Wanderer dinghies.
For 2023 we will have 2 new RS Tera's funded by a generous grant from Aldenham SC and the RS Sailing - Eric Twiname fund.
RYA Youth Sailing Scheme
We can provide training for the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme as part of the Saturday afternoon sessions. Assessments are arranged towards the end of the Junior Sailing season with an external RYA Senior Instructor.
Start Racing or ‘Go Faster’ Course
This course is open to all club members, and we would particularly encourage Junior sailors at RYA Stages 3 and 4 to join the course to improve their racing and general sailing. If interested, please ask for further details.
Fun Days
The Fun Days take place at the start of school summer holidays. Dates are included in the BSC Calendar or please ask for further details.
For more information on any aspect of Junior Sailing please contact Tim Davies or email him via secretary@broadwatersc.org.uk and see the Club Calendar for dates of specific events.
