2016-2017 winter open series at Broadwater Sailing Club.

Our Winter Open Handicap Series, now in its fourth year, will take place between Sunday 4th December 2016 and Sunday 5th March 2017 inclusive.

Several local clubs effectively close during the winter months and so we would very much like to welcome visitors from these or indeed any club to participate in our Winter series which is open to any class of dinghy up to about 16ft LOA.

Subject to weather conditions, we will be holding two races each Sunday: a pursuit race starting at about 10:00am and a handicap race starting at about 11:45.

Dinghies will compete against each other using the Portsmouth Handicap system.

Note: Changes to Class Handicaps effective from 4th September 2016

The RYA has updated the Portsmouth Yardstick figures (PYs) for 2016 based on national averages and, from this year forward, has introduced a scheme to provide more club specific local PYs.
Broadwater Sailing Club's Sailing Committee has decided to trial a variation to the national PYs until March 2017.

Revised start times are contained here.

Visitors will be able to leave their boats in our dinghy park for the duration of the series.

The entry fee will again be £40 including boat parking plus a returnable deposit of £10 for our gate key.

Contact Greg Hart if you would like to join the series, or for more information.
